Pongal 2013
Hurray celebrates Pongal 2013 by focusing on the science behind the traditional kolams!
The colorful Kolam tradition dates back to the Indus Valley Civilization (2500 B.C).
The Kolam is much more than just an aesthetic art. It symbolizes happiness and prosperity. Insects and birds feed on the rice flour used for drawing the traditional Kolam at the entrance of houses. Thus, the Kolam represents man's concern for all living creatures.
The patterns range between geometric and mathematical line drawings around a matrix of dots to free form art work and closed shapes.

New Year Eve
Hurray visits Kerala to enrich one of its core values of staying close to 'Nature & Life'!
On the Eve of New Year, the children choose to have their favorite birds & animals on their hands with Mehendi!
I love the way they think, express & cherish what they like!
The children also taught me how to draw a bird
from the 'number 5' & wanted it as a finishing touch on their hands :)
A lovely knowledge exchange in an amazing fun way!!
Happy New Year!! :)
